Can't Leave Poem by Deanna Gorton

Can't Leave

I know I mean nothing to you
I know you don't share the same feelings
And I know you could careless about me
And I know I'm nothing by a toy in your game
And yet I still can't leave you
Part of me wants to,
But the other part of me wants to stay.
Because I love the way you smile at me,
I love seeing your sleeping face,
I love the way you touch me,
I love the way you kiss my head,
I love the way you make me laugh and smile,
I love driving around with you,
I know this won't last,
but part of me wish it would,
I know I should just walk away,
and leave you without saying a word,
but my heart is not like that,
it cares too much for you,
So I'm not leaving,
and I know it will kill me in the end,
But I'm still going to stay, no matter what.
