O circumstances!
Don't try me to prevent,
I wish my life to be spent,
Or wish to be bent,
Before my Maker.
Let me walk,
Or with liberty sing,
Or fly without wing,
Or let my heart wring.
Before my Maker.
O circumstances!
Let me drink my tear,
Or the miseries bear,
Or to tremble with fear,
Before my Maker.
