Back From The Dead Poem by Cowboy Ron Williams

Back From The Dead

I heard a few reports of my demise,
and pinched myself to see if it were true.
Should not a person know it if he dies?
(That pinching left my body black and blue.)

How did that ugly rumor get its start?
I've been away on an extended cruise.
My doctor says I have a healthy heart,
and I was much encouraged by that news.

Bharati Nayak was the only one
who said she missed me while I have been ‘dead'.
I looked for other friends but there were none
who showed remorse, and not a tear was shed.

I have no more to say, so I will close.
Some day I'll write a bit more, I suppose.

Welcome back, Cowboy! This is an excellent Shakespearian sonnet. You have certainly not lost your touch!

Hi Cowboy poet, good that you are back, with the good news that you have not passed. The "news" some had spread on PoemHunter, I too thought it might be true and was sad … Happy that you are back.. thank you for letting us know with your beautiful poem. And thanks to Bharati

This fairy tale from Ron reminds me of Mark Twain's aka Samuel Clemens' alleged erroneously-reported death SO MANY YEARS AGO. : )

Balderdash to Bharati's fawning **! ! ! **: 'seeking or used to seek approval or favor by means of flattery.'
