A Wish For My Grandchildren Poem by Bryan Sefton

A Wish For My Grandchildren

Rating: 5.0

I wish you life on a faulty clock
So that just as a year is about to drop
There is the click of a slipping cog
And the year leaps back so that last year's frog
Is this year's tadpole, new tail whipping
And you, my precious children, skipping
To a summer that to me is past and old
But to you a promise about to unfold
Oh hold it! Hold it! Hold the day
Don't let a minute of it slip away
Lie in the grass looking out to sea
And let that sea be eternity
