Alley Cat Poem by Bryan Sefton

Alley Cat

The sparrow heralds the waking day
The sun stretches golden arms across the sky
And she, the daughter of the night
Rubs a sleepy eye and slips away
Without farewell. Without goodbye
Before the sun altogether drives away the night
Beauty with, perhaps a scar to hide

She moves in shadows that beauty usually abhors
Readily she done them
Slinking like some alley cat whose nightly vidual spent
Slips away to spend the day curled purring and content
