A Sonnet Of My Work's Ambitions Poem by Gayathri Seetharam

A Sonnet Of My Work's Ambitions

A Sonnet of my work's ambitions
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
I weave a spider's veil, a web
Of work's endeavours borne to fruition
But not yielding even a $300 for every effort
If I weave a gossamer veil of words
It does not become a lacy edge to my wardrobe of clothes
In vain do I try to tempt Eros
With the lace edged trimmings to my essays, poems, engineering papers, videos and other artwork
For I am a Psyche pure of heart and soul
Who has the gallop of a mare
But people think it is a trot or a lazy amble
If I taste the joys of a married woman's life
Who hath a twenty year old son
I know not what it is to be a success
Sought after for my woven lace of workmanship.
