Words From The Teacher (Prayer Against Lust)

Rating: 5.0

Don't let her take you with those eyes;
This is a word to you from the wise.
Fires blazing inside don't let it be a surprise,
Her seductive look only but a disguise.
The conflagration mighty and strong,
She snatches the weak among the throng.
Her words like honey her words are long,
Her beauty like money a deceitful song.
It's difficult to control the desire and temptation,
A weak and adulteress generation.
Building a house on sand a feeble foundation,
She leads to the pit of eternal damnation.
Never could I know what lied below,
The siren of lust coming to snatch my glow.
Her river is mucky grubby and filled with grief,
A dying tree the fragile brittle leaf.
I let her into the core part of my heart;
She found my soul then threw her gloomy dart.
I thought I had intelligence and understanding,
I thought that I was safely withstanding.
The more I got, the more demanding,
Her cynical laugh as she continued her branding.
She builds her dwelling out in the open,
Snatching the gold, shattered and broken.
Catastrophic essence of lechery,
She blinds you with complexion, master of treachery.
Woe is me this wretched person I've become,
Trampled infirmity covered in scum.
Woe is me who defies my God,
Not withholding the tremendous power of his rod.
Merciful Lord save me from her gaze,
It only leads to the shame that slowly decays.
I've been gobbled and chewed, spit out and spewed,
Restore my mind back to your beatitude.
I've given everything away for your glory,
Pardon me oh Lord; help me rewrite my story.
She holds a heavy burden on my life;
She's invaded my reasoning, causing constant strife.
Misery and worry, suffering and pain,
Free me oh Lord from this dark and desirable chain.
Almost healed thanks to your invocation,
Magnificent guidance leads me in the right direction.
Help me to choose the proper path;
So that I my never again submit to her wrath.
Lead me away from the harpy that kills;
Send me over the land up upon the hills.
Give me your love to keep me pure;
Give me long-suffering so I can mature,
Give me goodness that I may smile;
Give me temperance so I won't defile,
Give me peace that I may be secured;
Give me faith to know I will be cured,
Give me joy in the little things;
Give me gentleness that of your angels wings;
And give me meekness which comes from your word,
I thank thee oh Lord that you have heard, Amen.
