Words Poem by Mockingjay Mellark

Words

I have always admired Words.
First from afar and then,
as I grew older and bolder,
I edged my way into her inner circle
and saw her beauty in it's true worth.
I knew I never could court her
so well as her richer, handsomer suitors
did,
with their deep and creative minds.
And oh the way they danced with her!
The way they waltzed the rooftops and fields,
with that temptress Words upon their arms,
each taking a turn with her
when their time came,
each creating beauty
in the way they spun
and flew
and danced with her!
I knew I could not compete
yet such beauty did I see them bring
to this world together
in their tamest
to their most wildest of dances,
that I couldn't help but ask her
for a dance of my own.
And that beauty,
who says nay to no one,
allowed me to take her in my arms.
Our dance was clumsy,
but oh, what a thrill
to move in sync with such greatness!
I stepped back with a murmured thanks
and watched her continue her dance.
Words!
She swirled around me,
sharp as a sword
to those who were cruel
she was cutting and cruel.
But sweet as a lamb,
gentle as a daffodil
to those who needed her kindness.
And I felt myself falling in love
as I watched in awe,
this beauty called
Words.
