When Writing... Poem by Safiyyah Manjra

When I write poetry I think I become a different person.
I don't know the exact reason.

There are moments in time where my heart speaks aloud.
Most of my poetry is written beneath the night cloud.

The day never seems to bring justice.
Always full of noise and traps me in its harness.

I say things through poetry that I am unable to say with my usual words.
I somehow connect my one voice through both worlds.

Even the most painful poems I have written with a smile.
I guess poetry brings that joy that I've been holding for a while.

I like the quiet notion.
That brings with every word station.

Everything just fits.
Perfectly - each word sits.

Sometimes a little chaos is fun.
Enough to make your thoughts run.

That's why I like poetry.
It is always written ever so elegantly.
