When I Die Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

When I Die

When i die there's one tiny reason i would want to resurrect
Failing which, as a ghost, i will insurrect
I have done fairly well in my life
With enemies we agreed to put away the knife
With friends i will have paid my debts
Deities i will ask for forgiveness upon death

I shall be a free soul
Destined for peaceful rest in my hole
But for this tiny bit of unfinished business
It gives me uneasiness
I may ask for reincarnation
To come back do my incartation
Or demand outright resurrection
If the gods their duty is in dereliction
I will forcibly come back as an apparition
Not the favoured option for a para- christian

For there is a tinny winny issue
I have to come and pursue
When i die
Because i won't lie
Peacefully in my shroud
Pretending to be proud
Unless i resolve that little niggle
Then i can forever fly away like an eagle
To join my forefathers
To join my foremothers

This small issue
I will tell you when i die
It's a secret
See you when i die.

A mix of philosophy and Christian faith........ but I like the idea of truce with one’s enemies
