When Destiny Called Out Poem by Danusha Marie

When Destiny Called Out

My heart was guarded
Behind this thick wall
Built brick by brick
With each of life's fall

I worked to heal
The wounds of my past
To stand firmly alone
But alone didn't last

A magical night
Turned my life around
To stand firmly alone
But alone didn't last

A magical night
Turned my life around
A kiss in the dark
Flipped my world upside-down

The times that followed
Brought such surprise
I found my true self
Reflecting in your eyes

The wall, now torn down
Left my heart exposed
Vulnerable and free
To love, no longer closed

Kindness, creativity and soul
Have stirred up feelings
Giving my heart a new role

I've grown to love you
A caring I can't deny
To keep it a secret
Would be a silent lie

Is it a risk to tell you
Spill the words from my lips
No greater than the burden
Of any haunting what ifs

The future's uncertain
I have peace in that fact
All we have is the present
In this space, with this act

So, know this is my truth
Irrelevant to any return
I tell you share in honesty
That a selfless feeling does burn

You don't have to speak
Just know I'm happy today
For when destiny called out that night
We heard what it had to say
