We Are The Balusters Poem by Haruna Garba

We Are The Balusters

They ignore the lift going upstairs
The smarmy would rather walk it up
They play Isaac Newton's great show
Beguiled beneath Pisa tower we applaud
But we are the Balusters and the handrail
We are when our cards remain coveted things
But no longer after they've reached the top
It becomes real time to settle indebtedness
Settled was greed when fire was flaring off
