Waking: Part One Poem by Preston Simmons

Waking: Part One

I am striving to learn the significance
Of the dream you had.
You walked that fine line to somewhere
The one we all have walked.
You did something no one has ever done,
You tried to make it wider.
Since you could not influence it
with strength,
You altered it with your mind
Among the waiting ranks.

Fear comes from the unknown
And this is where you went.
You took confidence in your hand
in the form of five rings.
They were made of glimmering gold,
Their luster guided you
in your sleep.

It is common belief
That dreams cannot be controlled
By the dreamer.
You alone know the secret,
You know which key unlocks
The door
That is never opened.
