Uski Aankhon Mein Utar Jaane Ko Ji Chahta Hai, An Urdu Ghazal By Kafeel Aazar Amrohvi In English Translation

To be always in her thoughts, is my desire
To go home as the evening falls, is my desire

When asked to call an idiot an accomplshed man
To live such a life? Why? Death is my desire

Everything he says is absolutely truthful
But not to fulfill my promises, is my desire

To pay back debt of my unfulfilled dreams
And to be with my kith and kin, is my desire

I treasure in my heart all memories of her
But she shunned me. To leave her now is my desire

To visit deserted ruins makes no sense, Azar
But to be there now is my desire

(an added couplet)

Ravi is so sorry he fell in love with a pretty bimbo
Never to see her again -in bed or elsewhere- is his desire now.

uski aankhon mein utar jaane ko ji chahta hai
KAFEEL AAZAR AMROHVI

us kī āñkhoñ meñ utar jaane ko jī chāhtā hai
shaam hotī hai to ghar jaane ko jī chāhtā hai

kisī kam-zarf ko bā-zarf agar kahnā paḌe
aise jiine se to mar jaane ko jī chāhtā hai

ek ik baat meñ sachchā.ī hai us kī lekin
apne va.adoñ se mukar jaane ko jī chāhtā hai

qarz TuuTe hue ḳhvāboñ kā adā ho jaa.e
zaat meñ apnī bikhar jaane ko jī chāhtā hai

apnī palkoñ pe sajā.e hue yādoñ ke diye
us kī nīndoñ se guzar jaane ko jī chāhtā hai

ek ujḌe hue vīrān khañDar meñ 'āzar'
nā-munāsib hai magar jaane ko jī chāhtā hai
