Under The Table.......... Poem by Paul Brookes

Under The Table..........

Rating: 5.0

Distances caught in cobwebs
the rueful wind knocks on doors
shedding petals from the blossom.

this house of closed minds is empty
the wind knocks but there is no answer.
there in the corner hiding like frightened children are secrets,
secrets closely held, they cling to the curtains
seep in carpets, bore into the floor,
hover in u-bends and wardrobes.

the light if allowed access would dissolve them
or the wind carry them to other shores
but they are tight knit in the hearts of silent men
secreted in tight closed buds
dreams unborn waiting for a lovers touch that never comes.
they are watered by tears but they will never flower
for they are of barren stock
