Trapped Within Poem by Jayne Doe

Trapped Within

Rating: 4.5

It comes in waves
And stays for days
Brushing the heart
Tickling the mind
Spreading out
I feel it now
It's in my soles
And fingertips
It sticks to the ground
Wherever I step
It seeps onto
All that I grasp
I cannot escape
And it will not leave
It came from beyond
Now it's in me
Am I the master
Am I the slave
Have I already lost
Is this even a game
I cannot shake it
For it always spreads
From the tips of my toes
To the top of my head
Dragging myself
From step to step
Tried the shallows
But sunk to the depths
Where it's quiet and still
And hurts just to feel
I cannot go
I cannot escape
For the only way out
Is the way that I came
With a feeling that comes
In waves for days
And would go on its own
If I asked it to stay.
