To Whom It May Concern... Fathers, Mothers And Daughters Poem by David Beckham

To Whom It May Concern... Fathers, Mothers And Daughters

Rating: 4.7

Careless whispers, heartless talk
Where are you going with this?
“Daddy was not a man for me, mother was everything”
Ignorance breeds ugly talk
Mothers beware of crazy sounds bites
Of crazy gossip at the dinner table when daddy was gone
Sow not evil in the hearts of these young ones

Listen to her:
“Happy father’s day to all the great fathers out there
And to all the mothers who had to pick up the slack
From the not so great fathers …
Yes, so that means happy father’s day to my mother”

Daddy had his problems, we all know that
Daddy was daddy, taking you day care, changing your diaper
At your graduation, daddy was there
At the center of so much love was daddy
Yes daddy had his problems
But now mother says daddy was crazy
And daughter thinks father was a loser

“Daddy was a slacker, mother was everything”
Hearts drinking from a poisoned chalice
Gullible minds, stamped with resentment
Daughter talk in gossip conversation
Did not mother tell you the truth?
That daddy had his problems, but daddy will always love you
And daddy will never abandon you

Be careful daughter as you go on into the world
Think not of the world as without a man worthy of your praise or admiration
Or that you can take on the world by yourself …
Deep in the heart of every family is love
See the world with clear motives for survival
And realize that we weren’t born bad, neither were you or your mother
But most importantly, that daddy will always be here for you

A diamond in the rough, bad fathers don't worry about being good fathers. A very emotional poem, thank you for sharing.

And realize that we weren’t born bad, neither were you or your mother.... And realize that we weren’t born bad, neither were you or your mother.... And realize that we weren’t born bad, neither were you or your mother.... Salute for weaving with word such a net to communicate the widom in poetry. It would be better if the child-generation could have everybody the scope of reading this one. Regards, pranab 10+++(if server carries)

It can be so hard for children from broken relationships to understand why there can be bitterness. To me your confusion about your dad comes over, you love/loved him whatever anyone else said about him. You know he had faults but know everyone else does too. Your poem made me think about my situation with my children, especially my son. Thank you Nessy x

I think you have chosen a universal theme for the poem. Of late we find such chaos in every third family. The growing materialism is cavitizing the very roots of the institution of family. You have depicted the whole scenario very effectively. Since the poem is autographical in nature, as it appears, the sentiments are very deep. Very well written.10 Thanks for sharing.....

It's very sensitive social poem, David “Daddy was a slacker, mother was everything” ....................................................................................... I think that it's horror when the son or a daughter (this does not matter) so speaks about daddy.... But, I understand you well, though I had good childhood, Sincerely, Tsira
