To My Beloved Aunty Fatu Poem by Nate Tulay

Life isn't always fair
to a woman, and
to you, it wasn't
always fair or kind;
and on many occasions
it dealt you hands
that were scarring
and very brutal,
and you buried
many loved ones,
so many that you
may have even
questioned love
and life at times,
but even through
all of the pain and
scars, you still found
reasons to smile and
to be kind to others as
you struggled with life
from being its victim,
a woman, and a Lover.

Friends,
Life wasn't always
kind to her, and death
isn't fair either, but
my beloved aunty
was a kind-hearted lover,
and so death can only
scar us that got the
chance to know her.
