Tired Of Trying Poem by ObiGod Chidi CC

Tired Of Trying

TIRED OF TRYING
Love's easy and simple
So why make it complicated
By playing too hard to get?
I know you love me but
Why did you build a Trojan wall
With a steel gate around yourself?
Is it to keep me away or
To keep me forever climbing
But never attaining your heart?

You are as pretty as a white rose
With the fragrance of heavenly dew
But each time I reach out to have you
I get hurt by your hostile thorns.

You're as sweet as black honey
Freezed by the touch of loneliness
Because you are full of mean bees
That sting me to my retreating heels.

I'm tired of trying too hard
To love one who is afraid of love,
To give you what you fail to give yourself.
I'm hurt for always falling for someone
Whose walls are too high to let me in
Hiding behind insecurities as a fortress.

By the time your gates are open,
Your walls invaded by a Greek gift,
Your bees gone and the thorns burnt
I'll be gone 'cause I'm tired of trying.
