Timmy Poem by Al J. Cuesta

Timmy

Keep a' wonderin' boy, take me high
It is in the passion of your eyes
Where I find the will to live
Where I find the strength to forgive
Your mother, and I
We have let you down time after time
Never meant to be apart
Apart from you, away from your heart
So it is now that I can say
Forgive me child, forgive my unloving ways
For you have been my reason to get up
For you have been the force that never brought me down
But I did, and your mother did too
Sorry for that, but i'm not sorry for you
This time I'm sorry for me, a kind I cannot forgive
Now I ask you please to do this in my place
Give me a reason to die posing a happy face
Although I may not be worth it at all
For you have grown big
And lived and gived and loved
And created and didn't ask and always came back
Now I ask you to come back one more time
This time I'll admit I have done bad
Now that your mother is not here
Now that she cannot scream in my ear
Now that I know how she felt
The same shame I did for how we dealt
With you, our unexpected child
Treated unkindly, raised in the wild
Come back and let me see the passion of your eyes
For I have lost it, lost it throughout the time
It maybe selfish, but it's my final will
Come back to me so I can tell you how I feel
One last time, one first time
One true time, Timmy
I do love you
I know it now, somehow
It has been that way for quite a while
Since you were born
I was just too blind to see
That I need you
More than you need me
