Time Is The Fire Poem by Jefrey Smith

Time Is The Fire

Time is the Fire

time is the fire consuming life
a conquest of diminishing light
like a snake eating its own tail
a success that ends in ultimate fail

Life is the fire consuming time
so arrogant yet so sublime
like a stream that is flowing
unaware where its been or where its going

Fires burn brightest in the dark
a monument to the dying spark
that set in motion the covenants ark
the ever ending trilogy
that I make my own reality
and life is the time consumed by fire
burning me down as the flames get higher

The embers glow before they die
its as if they know to make one more try
to gain some flame to gratify
the inner desire
of the dying fire
that knows time is fueling the fire of life
and killing itself with its own hand on the knife

yes time is the fire consuming life
and life is the fuel that makes it seem so bright
and draws me in like a moth to a flame
where the warmth I desire
is the cause for the blame
that my fire for life
is the time I can claim
because when the fire burns low
its marking times ebb and flow
and the passing is so sublime
I was arrogant to think it was mine

but unlike that stream that is flowing
I am all to aware of where I've been
and where I am going
and there is little joy in the knowledge of knowing

that time is the fire consuming life
