This Is My Soil Poem by Parameswaran Nair Damodaran Nair

This Is My Soil

Rating: 5.0

This soil is deeply dear to me
For It is with this soil merged
the loving heart of my mother,

I still hear nightingales singing.
Her lullabies in silent solitude
Often in my sleepless nights.

Fairy tales that grandma told
To see me slept are whispered
Gently by this soil to the gales,

The soil my dad soaked in his sweat
Toiling to mollify my parching thirst
And to pacify the fire of my hunger.

To the far depths of its bosom sunk
The holy Ganges of Vedic Morals
Upanishad-philosophy and epic-ethics

It's from the battlefield of Kurukshetra
Of this soil rose up Bhagavat Geeta
The ultimate Mantra of duty and peace

It's the soil where martyrs for it's freedom
And gallant warriors for its safeguarding
spilled blood and laid down their lives

I am proud to have born in to its glory
Of religious tolerance and social harmony,
And Cultural abundance of spiritual blend
