This And That Poem by keith brown

This And That

"Struth mate"
In what context does one use the phrase?

"I told them this and that"

Is the story just a yarn or is it an actual fact?
Told in the singular or maybe third party
Do you cringe when you hear someone say?

"Yardie yardie yardie"

Fair dinkum and sheila, well they'veboth passed away
No place in modern Australia our learned friends all say!
Along with she's apples and sentences that end in but!
Were apparently no longer a literary slut.

Were modern and sleek no longer colonial or reckless
But I fear we've lost tradition to political correctness'
So the next time you're yakking throw in some " strine"
Be unafraid - put your intellect on the line
In the heat of debate or just chewing the fat
When lost for words just mention

Yardie yardie, This and that
