their bodies a landscape Poem by antoine de kom

their bodies a landscape

their bodies a landscape
we left ladyland.
there were cigar butts and
there was a question of anaemia
that could not be explained. we
combed children's books to find out.
we looked under every bush.
all we found was a little
dead lizard with white stripes
on its body, also a yellow fish
and a shell. all this had to
be buried and fast.
then there was someone who did the garden: I make
the rain and he blessed. I release you all from
your youth and your colour.
from that day on we went through
the forest of hairs where years
later we disappeared again
in the stone age of the
unguarded moment.
