The Thread Of Humanity Poem by Jaishree Nair

The Thread Of Humanity

Rating: 4.6

Just a house like any other,
in a village in the remote like no other,
A lone old woman lighting a lamp,
Awaiting the return of the loved one in the night damp...

Unaware that her only daughter lay-
a victim to a butcher's whim,
The beast playing with its prey,
engrossed in his dark thoughts!

The wood roaring its protest,
The sky thundering its anger
The clouds pelting its disgust,
The earth drenching in tears..

Muddled with insanity treacherous,
Like a scavenger- bent on his deed lecherous,
The leer of lust masking his look,
Enough to frighten the dead from the graves nook...

Crushing with a mind cold...
Burning with a heart bold...
Medias thrilled to sensation
Highlighted the act in the nation!

The wailing of a mother's soul,
in Gods own country did outpour,
Wringing her hands in stress,
Helpless and solitary in distress...

Justice feigning fair and square,
Let the animal scot free to snare,
and breed more and more of its kind,
To chain them no chain strong!

Trump card for a few,
Playing with the souls of the tormented...
To fill their coffers of greed...
The thread of humanity broken and buried deep!

Vividly pictured the evil of acts insulting our essence of humanity.
