The Stand Poem by Josephine De Leux

The Stand

If you knew what I were going to say,
and if you knew what that would mean,
I know you'll run away.

What a laugh, your silly sulks,
right in front of me.
Guess you dont understand,
your hulks just don't scare me.
Judo, kickbox, guns and knives,
i know your tricky skills.
But, child, I warn you now,
they wont work on me.

Because I am your grandmother,
and you are only 10.
Superheros, what have you,
its time to go to bed.

In years time, your 33,
same business again.
no, that girl ain't staying here,
as long as im alive-

and you'll never win this stand of ours,
over my dead grave-
because i am your grandmother,
so watch it, boy, be scared.
