The Pledge Poem by Alexander Thomas

The Pledge

Words set indelibly in stone,
Painstakingly crafted alone,
Slavishly written under the midnight oil,
From many strenuous years of toil,
Under the starry night glowing,
We grew ever closer without knowing,
Individually we made our mark,
As if carving each other's names into bark,
To establish a bond thicker than wood,
And loyalty sealed in blood,
Lit by the golden light of the soul,
The words still quiver down the scroll,
From the naked flames of the heart,
Is forged the most brilliant art,
Blazing in enduring memory,
Ageless in innocence,
A sacred vow,
Faithful and true,
It was all created for you!
A pledge in veneration of love!
Both of us have undertaken this cherished oath,
And mature with the tree of life to flourishing growth!
