The Lone Bird Poem by Kesav Venkat Easwaran

The Lone Bird

Rating: 5.0

I watch this lone bird
down the sky
hesitant to fly
folded wings, drawn in,
self-denied

What does it carry that heavy,
that persuades,
not allowing it to raise a wish
inside to rise and try?

An unattractive sky?

A mind, perhaps,
that reminisces that reaffirms
to fall prey, not
further again

With that image of a lonely girl and the free birds around her, the poem clearly expresses the deep seated fear in the mind of the girl to step outside where there are plenty of preying birds waiting to take chance. She is weighed down and down by fear!
