The Lamppost Poem by Shamsher Kendal

The Lamppost

We don't care and think
about a lamppost.
And it is not a matter of you and me
everyone does it almost.

But when it is missing
a serpent might show its presence
by a mild hissing.
We may sense a dog's growl
and end up as a good prowl.

the possibility is fetched
but you might host
of course I don't believe
but a horrific ghost.

A puddle might form
in the middle of the road.
for the whole day
the water had flowed.
What I say you may not trust
until in the mud your shoes thrust.

It serves like a watchman
but at a low cost.
tremendous is its significance
so care for a lamppost.
