The Head of Every Affliction
If a man becomes poor,
his relatives will cut their contact
with him off
Poverty is the head of every affliction
And brings to its owner all the abomination

And when a man is poor,
Who would think or care for him?
If someone else commits a sin,
he is the object of the accusation
And there is no trait that is for the rich to be praised,
but it is for the poor to be slandered without any justification:
If he is brave, he is said to be reckless
It is an intentional misinterpretation.
And if he is generous, he is called a wasteful one
What a degradation!
And if he is gentle, he is called weak waster, lacks realization.
And if he is dignified, he is named dull, with no concentration.

Death is easier than the need that turns a person into a beggar,
As if he has become the head of every affliction
among the population!

Most very thoughtful poem, truly to be pondered upon, but the words are true and marvelous, for the poor man this is terrible, but as the Holy Bible says God cares. Thank you so much for sharing this deep thought-provoking poem, dear Freeyad.
