The Grieving Mother Earth Poem by Indira Renganathan

The Grieving Mother Earth

Rating: 5.0

That piece of land struck with drought
This piece of land with flood
Quakes, wars, diseases this and that lot
We cry out with tears loud

But who knows our great Mother's grief
Who has ever heard her cry
Fate, she's not to any one even brief
Her strife and grief and cry

May be like some of us in secret heart
A covert groaning cry she does to her Lord

The grief of Mother Earth has been so touchingly and astutely delineated. Nice work.10

Profound poem, we are so busy in our daily chores that we hardly pay attention towards nature and mother earth, I am sue and like you said in your poem She must be complaining about everything we do in our greed. I quote: 10++++++++++ May be like some of us in secret heart A covert groaning cry she does to her Lord

This is a thought so similar to my thoughts as i have expressed in my poems on Mother Earth. We cry out loud when there is a calamity and are so distressed with happenings like the recent floods in Kerala. But what about Mother Earth? What are her emotions and whom does she cry to? Perhaps, we are unaware of her voice. An unique poem on the sentiments of Mother Earth..... Thank you Indira Ma'm.......10 s

We have destroyed beyond replenishment. We have looted mother earth its greenery and beauty. Now we are getting the returns for the wrong done. A nice poem indeed of the pain we are inflicting on her. But she never complains. Thanks for sharing. So nice.
