The Godless Path Poem by Prayag Saikia

The Godless Path

The godless path
(In memory of my deceased brother, Pranjal Saikia)

The storm of lightning isn't blowing in my head
Angel Gabriel hasn't appeared for an utterance
I'm human
Impurity is much nearer than purity

A few days have passed
Since the long ears of my dear Buddha
Have been rolled up in a bundle
By the flames

Trying to fill the void in the heart
I came to realize
It's impossible to find
Whether the last station of life
Turning into clouds from the radiance of fire
Is earth of sky

With the antique frame of man
I shed tears for a while
Understood
The final curtain isn't always the one in Sanskrit plays

Reminiscences bestowed throbbing
For those spectators ending the sum of subtraction
I kept a feeling scrawled

The present devoid of lightning
Opens up the godless path

Where the words of Gabriel are indistinct
Where it's impossible for man to be a prophet
Inspite of being radiant
