The Future Poem by Onwuasoanya FCC Jones

The Future

Journeying through the paths of life,
Though most, thorny may be,
With travelers bruising their heels just to carry on,
Others breaking their bones, but limping on.
Now the hilly routes approach,
Sapped and stabbed all may be,
But on we climb.
Cursing and perspirating, we must trod on,
Making new ways, breaking new routes.
Discovering mistakes of travelers who walked the path.
While some walked slower, others faster,
The difference is in the walker,
For everyone must walk,
For life is a huge walking experience.
Hope keeps all moving,
Hope for a future!
Our age gives us advantage,
Because our blood so hot and our bones still virile,
We can build higher hopes and brighten the way.
Our thoughts still agile and our reflexes sharp,
We can change situations and invent ideas,
Because our sojourn is just beginning and our days fresh.
We can achieve our aims and enjoy the dividends.
So, our patriotism must be strong,
Our nation building consciousness unbiased,
Our corrective determination undeterred.
Because we are more concerned and more affected,
Because the brightness of our thoughts,
The incorruptibility of our fecundity,
They picturise the future of our nation.
We must understand the unchangeability of our nationality,
We must welcome the changeability of any imbalance.
Knowing we are the future of this nation,
How we make her is how we shall enjoy her.
Let us build the future of our nation!
