The Frontline Commando Poem by Payin Antwi

The Frontline Commando

Rating: 4.0

A dispatch of new recruits have been sent to the war front
I can feel the heat of the desert
It burns deep into my skin
With a huge body armor covering my salient flesh
I wished I was never there
The pellets of heavy weapons fly all over
To my left a dead body lies
To my right, stepping stones of land mines
What to do?
The hurricane of the enemies came fast and strong
But we stood our grounds
Move soldier, move…
Was the aggressive shout of our commander
The sniper aimed precisely
He couldn't afford to miss a shot
The AK 47s rip through bones and skulls
A pic of my girlfriend and baby mama
Was my only courage to stay alive
Ra-ta-ta-ta was the roar of my AK
When my gun blast away
The enemies retreated
We were bound to rejoice for allied victoryThen came the deadly shot
And all things blacked out
I felt a greater force at work
I simply could not die
The air finally cleared
I knew I survived
Yes, i am a frontline commando
And I live to fight another day.
