The Afterlife Poem by sagnik.ganguly ganguly

The Afterlife

In some years time the age of senility will arrive
Forever lost but never regained
The most certain of all uncertainties
The predestined fate of death before birth has already arrived

I envisage myself to be the emaciated old man
Brittle, fragile and vulnerable
The dwindled bones and the sinew. the vision blurred
The cobbled skin, wrinkled face
The contours on the forehead
The infirmities of old age
A pale shadow of the youth
How I wish I had the elixir of youth
The magic potion
Transforming me and transporting me back to those golden years

The latent fear of dying a million slow deaths with every passing day
Seems too unbearable
The cold slow death appears impending
The final beat of the heart
A thousand recollection of memories in a blitzkrieg
The thought of life afterlife
The faint hope of my alter ego’s survival
My doppelganger has transcended to its after life!
