That Rose Poem by Barry Dummett

That Rose

Rating: 4.5

Are you smiling now when you remember that rose?
Of a perfect night together that lingered long after
Be assured that I will not keep any secrets from you
What you see is what you get every time we meet

Are you smiling now as you remember being with me?
Where my joys and your joys became our joys
Let the flowers bloom and birds sing where we trod
As the world is so much brighter when I'm with you

Are you smiling when you think of our next encounter?
Is it as good as the past or will it again be surpassed?
I may not be suave and sophisticated around others
But I am sensual and sensitive, especially with you

Are you smiling now after you have read a few lines?
When I'm with you Lahni, I'm always at my very best
You have opened up a contented world of clarity to me
Let's toast our happy past when we meet again at last
