Tell Me Poem by Amanda Purczynski

Tell Me

Tell me the story,
of how you were
battered,
and vulnerable.
I look at you now,
a pattern
of ancient flesh
covered in
threadbare rags.
And yet,
you fight
skin permanently stained
with the smell
of roses
and the color
of blood.
And yet
you fight.
