Super Duper Poem by Paul Brookes

Super Duper

I want to be like Superman, flying through the skies
Have the strength of ten men and lasers for my eyes.
Wear a silly costume, have loads of sex appeal,
Or be like Spiderman, have muscles made of steel.

I wouldn't shirk my duty, I'd be a one true knight,
Saving endless maidens, from their awful plight.
Chasing all the bad guys, putting them in jail,
Frightening evil genii, oh yes I'd make 'em quail.

I be just like the Hornet, with an ever ready sting
And to all of Gotham city, an order I would bring.
Swell up to twice my size, be just like the Hulk,
I'd sit on all the baddies, I'd really make em sulk.

I know I'd be an asset, I wouldn't be a sap,
I've even got the adjectives, sock, kaboom and zap.
I'd like to swim like Aqua-man, upon the briny sea,
Capturing watery villains, as they try to flee.

Oh to be a Human Torch, just like Johnny Storm,
Yes, any Super Hero, of any shape or form.
Its a sad proposition for I'll never make the grade
Because I am a coward, I would be too afraid.

Yes I'd tremble like a craven, hide within my house,
For I've got no more courage, than a tiny mouse.
So please don't call upon me, for any do or dare,
For I think you just might find me, skulking in my lair.

The ideas fine and dandy, being Superman,
But I'd be rather be a comic, just like Desperate Dan.
I know you think I'm awful, got no mastery,
But you see dear reader, I'm nearly Sixty three.
