STRANGER
As the last idiot to meet my end
I from the Heaven's blue skies
Was dumped here on this land, -
Leaving the Lord my soul and eyes.

I can't see the mainland though
And my feet are walking tight.
Through the desert I wander now,
Like the last Jew in the blight.

People love to watch me suffer.
I do not complain nor grumble,
And don't care about worldly comfort,
To the envy of all who mumble.

I walk like a shadow without light,
Ignoring the flashing world.
Against myself I deadly fight
And vainly to the Lord I call.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Banished by God from Paradise, I walk like a shadow on a sinful earth. As the wandering Jew in the desert I appeal in vain to God.

A well written poem from a wanderer, still retaning faith on God despite all his sufferings. Thanks for sharing this poem.

Hi, Bri, It's O.K. with your comments. Thanks from the humble Russian. I do mean that I appeal in vain to God. Re: " For nothing to the Lord I call." I think you are quite right as to a comma after nothing.

i accept this from the humble Russian, but i do feel the last line of the poem contradicts the second sentence of the Poet's Notes. maybe i misinterpreted this: " For nothing to the Lord I call." i thought it meant 'you'...(maybe it is YOU, maybe not) ...don't call for anything, but apparently it means 'you' DO call, but nothing comes of it, i.e. the Lord gives nothing. i guess i'd put a comma after " nothing" in the poem. bri :)
