Strange Poem by Tex T Sarnie

Strange

The rain was pouring
but the owl was still hooting,
and a wolf was howling at the moon.

Strangely, my body was trembling,
as a toad was loudly croaking.
I thought my days would be over soon.

I heard a woman laughing hysterically.
Was someone really trying to frighten me?
Should I let go of my new red balloon?

Suddenly, all around me became still and hushed,
so I thought that I would let the balloon go in a rush,
but it exploded and made an echoing boom!

In shock I tried to look through the forming mist,
as the rain ran down my face and lips.
Then I heard someone whistling a haunting tune.

I couldn't see, but I could definitely hear
and I felt that someone was standing near.
I was filled with utter despair and gloom.

I was overwhelmed by the situation
and had lost all sense of navigation,
so I ran towards the bright full moon.

I didn't stop until I came across a street light,
which was to me a safe haven in the night.
A voice then whispered, "A bus will be here soon."
