Stay As I Appealed Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

Stay As I Appealed

The other day I saw my soul
Breaking the tiny fragile cell
To fly away know not where
As if enslaved and locked for years
Against the boundless sky to be free for ever
To be free for ever
Like a caged bird wishing to see the brightness of sun,
The evening gale and the rising moon
As if seemed missing breath from paradise
And wishing to see springing woods and grass,
Meadows lush and green,
Hills sublime with hope and joy divine
And like a dreamy river racing ingenuously
To merge with the infinite eternally
I appealed her to stay
In my heart as long as she may
I appealed her some more time to spare
As I have some work left that I may pray to my Savior
'But sir you are old and feeble
I can't wait till you humble'
'Look comrade I am not as old as you say
That I must submit to your hearsay'
'But it's too late my dear
When he comes between body and soul so near'
Discomposed I succumbed to the sovereign
To be at least convinced there is still a holy home left for us in
heaven
Like I had had in earth with my loved ones
Where I used to have morn, noon and even
So serene, graceful and tender
Where I used to hear children's merry laughter,
And their songs of prayer and flowers devoted to Savior
Where I used to feel woman's heart in helpless creatures
Where no cruel act nor selfish wish thrives
Where only things are built of loving deeds
Can these be vouched for by the sovereign in heaven eternally?
If not, then you are forswearing immortality timidly
