Sonnet: Let Spousal Love Be True Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Let Spousal Love Be True

Show me one man and show me one woman,
Who truly loves the spouse without some lust?
In marriage or outside if love human,
Surpassed be love by lust and truly must.

Let us be fairer to our spouses then;
The minds shouldn’t roam when bodies interact;
Where minds and bodies concur, there’s Heaven;
Our spousal love should be unique, intact.

How can one grudge a spouse the real love?
This is the way to avoid adultery!
Lust is a Raven black, love’s a white dove!
Who foretells the poison in a berry?

True love is born when mind, body tether!
Outside the nuptial frame, ‘tis sin brother.
