Since The Start Of Spring

Rating: 4.0

By LIU-Yong Translated by East Sea Fairy

Since the start of spring of the year
Gloomy has grown the green, grief-stricken has the red.
She finds every thing meager mere.
Now Titan's chariot has climbed up to its zenith, yet she's still in bed,
and from her cheeks the rouge and blusher have fled.
The happy orioles fly about in the little wood of willow
but her long hair is disordered and tousled.
Too lazy to comb it; all day she feels down and low
The fickle fellow hasn't taken to me a word since he was gone. damn it, Oh!

If this rueful and regretful consequence
I had foreseen
I would have locked up his saddle with carved patterns thence
and offered him paper and pen
to make him sit down at the window decorated with paper-cut chicken
to write songs and recite poems also.
And I would have accompanied him far ben
to send away rosy dawn and welcome afterglow
So that these charming prime of youth wouldn't have been wasted in worry and woe.
