Shadows Poem by Naomi Waters

Shadows

Rating: 5.0

Why do they dislike me
Did I do something wrong
I try to be nice
I only want friends
But they only hate me
Probably will until the end
I ask why
But the answer i know will only
Make me cry
I have always stood alone
In the shadows
In the darkness
They laugh
While I cry
Alone
Afraid
Trapped
They lock me in here
Knowing that i cannot get out
Because I am not like them
They taunt me with the key
So close yet...
So far away
My cries are left unanswered in
The darkness
I am not one of them
I am alone

Naomi, this is an excellent write about bullies. Bullies are awkward cowards. They have very low self-esteem. You are the opposite. It took courage to write this poem. And with that, a good dose of healthy self-esteem. Congratulations! Hoping that some day this will be Poem Of The Day!

That really means a lot to me. Your kind words warm my heart. But i dont think my poems will ever be good enough to be poem of the day oh well wishful thinking never hurts anyone.

An insightful piece depicting shadows of loneliness occasioned by bullying and abuse inflicted on one by acquaintances. A well articulated poem nicely penned from the heart with conviction. Thanks for sharing Rose. Please read my poem COLOSSAL MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE.

Your life is so beautiful, Rose, that you can't afford to be bullied or be bogged down. You have done nothing wrong. So, muster up your moral strength, look into the the eyes of your adversaries and, if need be, challenge them. You will win. Thanks for sharing the poem. My cries are left unanswered in / The darkness / I am not one of them / I am alone

most of us have experienced bullying in one form or another. No one ever enjoyed it. The human capacity to cause harm to our peers can be relentless and unforgiving. That said, it is often in times of trial and persecution, when we are singled out and standing alone, when we learn the greatest truths about ourselves. Bullies are petty, and when they eventually realize the pain theyve caused people, they feel it five fold themselves. Thanks for sharing
