See, What Do You See Poem by Oduro Bright Amoh

See, What Do You See

See, what do you see?
We see too little when we see at all.
We look too far ahead, we dont see what is near.
And while we look left to see what is right
What is right is right there and left to be yet noticed
We see tall mountains, the lilies down blossom in vain.
What pity! To trample on colourful parrots
Just so we can gaze at the colour of the eagle.
What danger! To see the elephant above
And fall prey to the serpent below.
Like visionless birds we see through glass
like visionless birds we bump into them.
It is not faith to just believe what you don't see.
It is blindness if you dont see what you believe.
Faith is the belief of a farmer that a grain of corn will sprout
When buried under fertile soil.
It is the belief that though the moon carries the night away with its beauty
The sun will bring the morning with its brilliance.
We see in others what we think we lack
And then pay a heavy price to possess something we already have.
We look up to them on higher heights
Haven't we realised we stand in a valley
We shield the heat of our own confusion
By wearing the cap of their opinions upon our bald head.
No wonder, we pay to be protected by those we should protect.
See both what is near and far, above and below,
Left, right and centre. And look in the corners too
Find reason for your line of reasoning.
Let your foresight not come before sight,
And let your insight be in sight.
