Royal Wedding 2018 Poem by Mahesh Patel

Royal Wedding 2018

Rating: 5.0

While the homeless people of London
Are swept under the 'image carpet'
And the streets are cleaned and redone,
We over-indulge in the union
Of two ‘unvalued' people.

Whether the 32 million* was a taxpayer's gift
Or a hard-earned money of the couple's earn,
The waste of such extraordinary amount,
Bears no justification of their character.

In this age and world where we place
Humanity above pomposity,
We should not be encouraging
Brief cosmetic events for national pride!

How many lives, at three pounds per month,
Could this fantastic wealth have saved!

* It doesn't matter who paid for the entire wedding: be it God, the Queen, Bill Gates, or the Taxpayers. What matters is the sheer waste of money to show the world for several hours of a ceremony, that we prominent charitable souls should have our day in the world stage - for this brief period we do not care about the misfortunate souls that we try to rescue! The marriage could have taken place behind a small confined place without the extravagance of the wedding elements:
