Rolled Up Is The Comely Curtain

By LIU-Yong Translated by East-sea Fairy

Rolled up is the comely curtain
with a phoenix-birds design.
Time and time again
jiggle the knockers in the red door carrying a beast-head sign.
Two poles high over the thriving trees is the Sun fine
Dozy and dopey
the alma appears in tears as bitter as brine
in spirits dreary
and gloomy.

With the catkins off the willows
her fond dream flied at full speed away.
The sorrows
caused by drawing away her time day after day
are stronger anyway
than a wine spirituous and heavy.
For their transient tryst so sweet and gay
terminated fleetingly
before she can have a little bit of the other only.
