Red Leaves And Yellow Flowers In Late Autumn

YAN JIDAO Translated by East-sea Fairy

Maple Leaves have turned red from green.
Brag and bravery the yellow chrysanthemum blossoms display.
What a late autumn scene!
I can't help longing to see him wandering thousands of miles away.
Further and further afar the clouds at the skyline sway.
The wild goose returned without his word.
"Where is he? " to this I have nothing to say.
Nothing about his address I've heard.
Where can I send the bluebird?

The more disappointed I am, the more for him I yearn to see.
I shed a sea of tears by the window
for so sad and sore my heart has come to be.
Could not be staunched, nor be stopped the tear flow.
My teardrops flood down into my ink-stone, oh!
Let me then ink to compose a letter with them there anchored.
Drop by drop, I put all my heart-sores in it, from those long ago
To those after you left. When my heart-felt wishes whirred
My tears drop down unto the red letter paper till it fades and is blurred.
