Quietly, Love Comes Poem by Lora Colon

Quietly, Love Comes

Rating: 5.0

Quietly, I hear you speak to my heart
Like no one has done before;
A silent voice, but I understand,
All I can say is 'Ay, amor! '

The flames you lit are burning bright,
They'll burn forever, it seems;
But the flames provide the light I need
To enhance my languid dreams

I dared not dream of heaven's hues,
Nor a glimpse of the Holy Throne;
Darkness and gloom were my domain,
And all the splendor, still unknown

I stood in the abyss, without a light,
Oppressive darkness all around;
You found the door that led to my heart,
Then love entered.... without a sound

Silently, your loving words take flight,
Like notes a songbird would impart;
They ride on waves 'til they come to rest
On my anxiously waiting heart

And my heart welcomes the reviving breath.....
A heart that was dead as stone;
Neither distance nor passing of time
Will remove my king from his throne

It's been such a long time since I have been able to be the first to comment on a new poem. And it is with pleasure that I (drum roll) give you a '10' (but I suspect no surprise to anyone, least of all you) ! Live long in the light dear poet!

A beautiful poem, a bit longer than the usual length of your poems. The first two lines set the tone, the rest just flows out like a stream. 'Then love entered.... without a sound' - This is how love works. Nicely said. 'Silently, your loving words take flight, Like notes a songbird would impart; They ride on waves 'til they come to rest On my anxiously waiting heart' - A poetic expression. Well done! 10/10.

Neither distance nor passing of time Will remove my king from his throne never could be a heartier dedication to the loved one, you excel in painting love notes, Lora.

Love comes soft as a morning sunrise, and you have to listen carefully or you might miss it. A beautiful poem Lora. Well written.
