I read this morning
how Abimelech convinced
the citizens of Shechem
that the benefits of a benevolent dictator
far outweighed the detriment
of seventy congressmen
brawling on their behalf.
Stone me, if necessary,
but I am beginning to believe
Abimelech was right.
But, on second thought,
look what happened to Abimelech;
look what happened to the whole
of Israel.
